A.K.A the Phoenix Wright Series!
Yes you Knew it was coming !
well this will Hopefully trun into and official topic about my favorite game.
ANYWAY! time for a quick Synopsis (sp?) of the AA series!
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, is a text adventure game released by Capcom in October of 2005 for the Nintendo DS (released a month earlier in Japan under the name "Gyakuten Saiban ~ Yomigaeru Gyakuten"). It is a remake and adaptation of the GBA game Gyakuten Saiban (often translated as "Tournabout Court" or "Comeback Court"), which was released only in Japan in 2001. Gyakuten Saiban 2 and 3, also released on the GBA (and again only in Japan), came out in 2002 and 2004 respectively. The series was received with moderate success and has spawned a modest amount of merchandise, including soundtracks, collectable figures, art and fan books, and a short, promotional manga.
The series has grown by a considerable margin since its release to the DS. With a fourth game recently Capcom has even started putting out two original manga in Bessatsu Young Magazine. Even Capcom employees on their official fansite have remarked on the unusual amount of word-of-mouth advertising that has spurred Ace Attorney to sell out in the USA again and again. What started as a small adventure series is turning into a cult hit with a small, but steadily growing and very passionate fan base.
PW:AA is an adventure game where you play the part of Phoenix Wright, a novice defense attorney on his first case. It consists of investigation and courtroom sections, in which you gather evidence, speak to witnesses, and then take your findings to court where you "battle" opposing council to get an acquittal for your client. The fifth case takes advantage of the DS features by allowing you to view evidence and character profiles on the bottom screen, along with 3D evidence manipulation and voice recognition.
Gameplay is focused almost entirely on investigation and reasoning, and it's lack of traditional "action" and huge amount of text is off-putting to some gamers. It is often described and marketed as an "interactive novel". The game's strengths are almost entirely in its story and characters, which are brilliantly done with in depth cases and colorful, stylized animations. Those that have compared it to the Sega CD cult hit "Snatcher" are not far off. Phoenix Wright is a charming and unique gaming experience and a must have for any fan of the genre.
wow that took a long time
Now Main Characters!:
Phoenix Wright / Ryuichi Naruhodo
A defense attorney and protagonist of the first three games. At the start of the series, he has recently acquired his attorney badge. Childhood friends of Larry Butz and Miles Edgeworth, he became his legal career after being defended by Mia Fey, subsequently working in her office and taking over for her when she was murdered. Wright is known in the courtroom for wildly guesses at the truth and the ability to "turnabout" the court to his favor. [Ace Attorney 4] Roughly seven years after the final case in Ace Attorney 3, Phoenix loses his defense attorney's badge for falsifying evidence, becoming a rather lousy pianist at a Russian-themed restaurant with a knack for Poker. He has an adopted daughter, Minuki who is a professional magician. He has since converted Wright Law Offices into Wright Talent Offices. Shortly after Apollo Justice joins his firm, he changes the firm to the Wright "Everything" Offices.
Miles Edgeworth / Reiji Mitsurugi
Serving as Phoenix's rival, he became a prosecutor at the age of twenty and has been called a "genius" by many. Generally, Edgeworth is level headed and will recognize that winning a case is not always the best way to serve justice. His father was killed in front of him while he was a youth (leading to a fear of earthquakes), and subsequently he was mentored by Manfred von Karma, becoming almost a brother to Manfred's daughter, Franziska.
Mia Fey /Chihiro Ayasato
Eldest daughter to Misty Fey, she chose the path of being a defense attorney instead of becoming a mystic. She initially worked at Marvin Grossberg's office alongside Diego Armando, and then subsequently opened her own offices. However, she was murdered shortly after Wright joined the firm. However, her spirit lives on and can be summoned by either Maya or Pearl Fey when needed
Maya Fey / Mayoi Ayasato
Younger daughter to Misty Fey, she is a medium-in-training, and because of Misty's absence, is the current Master of Kurain village. After Wright defends her from charges of murdering her sister Mia, she stays on with Wright to help in investigation and proceedings of his cases. After the DL-6 incident, the lack of demand for Kurain mystic services allows Maya to spend much of her time at Wright's law office.
